Tooth News
Miles and Max went to the dentist today. No cavities. It was Max's first real dentist appointment. The dental work loosened up Miles' already very loose tooth and it was on the verge of coming out. In line for the bus to the fair, a guy said he would give Miles $5 if he let him pull it out! Miles pulled it out himself and the guy gave him $2!

Father's Day Weekend on Coronado Island
We spent Father's Day weekend on Coronado Island. Thanks to a generous gift from Ron's college teams, we stayed at a very nice Marriott Resort and one of the players babysat so Ron and I went out to dinner alone (giftcard to a nice seafood place also courtesy of the soccer teams)! We went to the beach one day and the pool the next. Rode a beach bike for four down the strand. We also saw a drive-in movie (Karate Kid - Miles loved it!). On the last day the boys rode their scooters down the strand to a park. I regret I didn't have my camera to get pictures of them playing at the park with a harbor and city view.

Miles' Last Week of School
End of Year Ceremony
Each child was recognized for outstanding academic and character qualities. Miles was recognized for Independent Worker and Honest and Helpful. It was really a quite magical year - Miles had a superb teacher who brought out his best. His end of year report said "Miles is a vivacious, sensitive, kind, extremely intelligent, and articulate young boy. His vocabulary and conversation is very mature. He shows compassion and caring for others. He is helpful, responsible, and honest. His manner is relaxed, accepting, and comfortable with who he is and his abilities. He has leadership abilities. He enjoys the friendships of many. He has a keen, enthusiastic curiosity about exploring the world around him. We have truly enjoyed him, have learned from him, and have been enriched by having him in our classroom this year. Thank you for sharing Miles with us. May your summer be all that you wish, want it to be. Miles will be in first grade next school year. He is ready. May it be for him, all that you wish, and want it to be, and more."
Miles wrote short notes to each of the teachers. Here's what he said:
Mrs. Tobin
She made me feel great. I had really great work. The work I thought was hard was easy. She called me up on helper of the day and I liked that. I will always remember that she is special to me
Ms. Erika
She’s really nice. She always compliments me whennI do a lot of work. She helped me with my leaf crown and I really liked that.
Miles celebrated his birthday with his class. They had a really cool ritual where he circled around "the earth" with a photo of himself for each year, then he placed a candle in the holder. The children sang to him each time around. The teacher began the whole thing by showing pictures of a developing fetus and asking Miles questions about the process. Miles basked in the attention and it meant a lot to him to have his whole family there. He was especially proud to have his brother, Max, there.

Summer 2010 Kick-Off
Some details of the Las Vegas trip. We had a great time! We enjoyed the hot weather and pool during the day and the exciting attractions at night. We stayed at Mandalay Bay which featured a fun wave pool and lazy river. We didn't get any pool pictures because we were in the water with the boys. The first night we saw the Bellagio Fountains and the Atlantis show at Caesar's Palace. The second night we went to Circus Circus - we saw an acrobatics show and a flying trapeze show - both very exciting! The boys played games. Then we went to New York New York. We weren't able to do everything we wanted due to time, but we certainly enjoyed what we did.
