Babbling and Crawling Video

Sick Miles

Poor Miles has been down with strep. He missed almost a whole week of school. Grandma and Grandpa Mann were with us for the weekend and gave Miles lots of TLC. We all really enjoyed their visit. Miles said to Grandma "I think we're going to be best friends. I like playing car races with you!" and asked her "When are you going to leave...but then I'll miss you so much!" At bedtime sitting in the living room with all of us he said, "Raise your hand if you want to put me to bed!" and he said no to Ron and me because we "weren't fun enough," he waited for Grandpa to raise his hand and called on him to put him to bed because he was the "most fun!" He was playing imaginary games and talking to "Jeff" under his blanket.

Crib Boy

Max has been doing so well in his bedroom. He really likes his crib. Now he easily can go from a laying position to sitting, and from sitting to a crawl position. He is creeping around and he's starting to get into things, trying to pull up and get things off tabletops.

Naked Boy

It's getting to be a challenge to get Max diapered and dressed - he has too many better things to do. He is strong and he sometimes refuses to stay still - this is one battle he won.

A Room of His Own

Max awoke happy after spending the first night in his own room

Max's Room

Max spent his first night in his own room! We moved his crib into the third room and he did quite well. I felt kind of sad without him close-by, though :(

7 Months Old!

Our special boy is 7 months old today! He continues to be a sweet, happy baby and is getting more and more fun given his blossoming abilities. This past month brought with it sitting up independently and sleeping through the night following sleep training. Max still likes to eat whatever he can and his waistline shows it. He went to the doctor a week and a half ago and weighed 23 pounds. But we think he looks perfect, albeit heavy to carry. He is making progress on crawling, lunging forward a bit. He still gets up on all fours and rocks, often scooting backward. But he also gets where he wants by a combination of rolling, turning, and scooting. One day he scooted across the room on his bottom and pulled Miles' lunchbox down to explore (don't tell Miles!). He's been babbling a lot and "yelling." I also think that he's starting to wave. He will put his hand up when we wave at him, although sometimes I wonder if it's coincidence and he's scratching his itchy "cradle cap" head. I guess I'll keep watching and see if he does it consistently. He reaches for us or lunges at us when he wants up. He is very interested in playing with things that we might not want him to: paper, Miles' matchbox cars (Miles tolerated sharing them with Max tonight). The other funny thing is that Max has become very "regular" about pooping - every morning around 6:00 AM he does his business - sometimes he goes back to sleep, sometimes he's up talking - he is happy in the morning!

First Self-feeding

I think it may be too early for this, but Max eyes our food so enviously that I let him try a teething bisquit.

Stroller Baby

Max really enjoyed a stroller ride now that he's sitting up so well

Hi!

All Pushed Up and Nowhere to Go

Max works on getting around. He's a pro at going backwards, still trying to figure out how to go forward efficiently. He pushes up on one foot and lunges forward. He can go from a sitting to a crawl position.

Tired Out

Max really fell asleep just like this on the floor. All that soccer training is really exhausting!
