Here is the official kindergarten report! Miles just completed his first week of kindergarten. He got a great teacher - she is very experienced and nurturing. He has had to endure very long days and it has been physically/mentally challenging. The regular session goes from 8:30-2:38 (but many kindergarteners are excused at noon during the initial transition). Miles, however, not only stays until the final bell but goes on the the Child Development Center for aftercare until 5-ish. He seems to enjoy school and has a positive attitude about it, but has been very exhausted and at the beginning of the week was too tired to eat dinner one night, went the day without pooping, had nightmares waking him up a few nights (he said some were about being chased and falling), and one night even had a low fever. We also noticed Miles biting his nails and lip again - something he hadn't done all summer. Last night (Thursday) night he was seeming back in-balance and had good dreams (although was still up because he was too hot). Today he seemed to have a good day and we think he is making the adjustment. He decided that he would prefer the hot lunch program with chocolate milk rather than bring his own lunch. But he still brings a snack and carries his own backpack. He is making new friends but naturally still misses his old friends. We are very proud of Miles!
