Funny Miles

Miles said 2 things that made us laugh today. 1: She ate a lot of junk food and she got fat (referring to a larger woman, we told him even if that were true, it was not nice to say) and 2: Our cat Thomas went to the glue factory (said in conversation to a man at the park about pets). A lady at the park commented on what a character he was, and smart.

Grandma and Grandpa Mann were with us this weekend. We had fun and Miles loved the attention. Pictures to follow when I receive a disk with pictures from their camera.

Max Milestones

Max has had a few new developments. He can transfer his binky from one hand to another and put it in his mouth, when he's concentrating. He is really enjoying his baby toys and appears proud of his ability to manipulate things. He tried baby oatmeal and seemed to really like it. He has skipped one of his night feedings a couple of times and while we hope this will become regular, we're prepared to provide him with whatever he needs during the night. He is so cute and becoming more and more fun with his blossoming abilities. He's still frustrated that he can't move forward, he either scoots backward or turns around. He'll be in motion soon enough. He seems very motivated by Miles, he watches him intently. It's so cool to watch the 2 of them together.

Studmuffin

Need I say more? Adorable onsie complements of our good friend, Emily, who spoils Max and Miles!

Daddy Daycare

The boys have had such a good time under their dad's care this month! Ron has become a veteran at taking care of the 2 of them, undertaking challenging solo-parent outings like Seaworld and the beach. When I get home at the end of the day, Miles is having so much fun with his dad that sometimes he doesn't even greet me.

4 months old!

Max turned 4 months old today! He is doing great, becoming more of his own little person everyday. He weighs 17 and 1/2 pounds and is 26 inches long, 90%iles. Milestones from this past month include rolling over completely from back to tummy, then tummy to back again and starting some solid food. He continues to be pretty vocal and often makes "g," "m," and "b" sounds and it's starting to sound like vowels in there, too. He is very stimulated by his environment and is gaining the hand control to manipulate things. He's been checking out his feet but hasn't figured out how to experience them yet like he does his hands. He tries really hard to move forward on his tummy but only turns to a different angle. He loves getting his mouth on anything he can.

Doctor said that the spitting up is not a medical concern and that he'll likely grow out of it at some point. Until then we're going to continue doing A LOT of laundry. He didn't offer any advice on the not sleeping through the night thing. We suspect Max is conditioned to waking for feedings and will need sleep training, but we're going to give it some time and see what happens naturally. We are grateful for the good health of both of our beloved boys, Max and Miles.

Yummy Slideshow

At almost 4 months old, Max has started rice cereal. He's getting the hang of it, but gets frustrated when he's too hungry. We've tried feeding it to him before his bottles to see if the solids in his stomache would reduce his spitting up, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also, contrary to popular belief, the cereal has had NO impact on his sleeping more at night. He's still getting up around 2x at night faithfully for his bottle. He has his 4 month check-up on Monday and we'll see if all this eating has had any impact on his growth.
