SuperMax! And CryptMaster!

Grandma and Grandpa made Boo cookies

Here is Crypt Master trick or treating. His new Puma shoes looked really good with his jeans (first time we've seen him in pants this season!)

Halloween was sort-of mixed for us again this year. Max was sick with a fever so he was dressed up briefly this morning but couldn't go trick or treating tonight. Grandma and Grandma Mann are here and we had a lot of fun with them! Miles had a pretty great day except he was overwhelmed by the large crowd at the school parade. He got really upset. He said he was scared because he thought they were laughing at him. I said, how they could be laughing at you, you look so scary, and he said they thought I looked like I clown. He enjoyed his class party but at recess they were playing a running game and he was pushed and scaped his elbow and ankle pretty bad. I was there and brought him to the nurse. The rest of the day was great for Miles.

Max is 20 Months Old!

Max turned 20 months old today! He is holding steady around 31 pounds - which puts him into a size 3T in many clothes and he wears a size 8 shoe. He surprises us with new words every day - nothing earth-shattering, just stuff I didn't know he knew: diaper, paper, color, crayon, poptart, candy. He mastered saying Miles, Grandma, and Grandpa and even said the name of his Aunt Bea (a-Bee!). He is learning his colors, shapes, and numbers. Today at the park we were playing with balls and I was counting and he surprised me by joining in. He continues to say 2-word combinations like bye-bye mommy, more yogurt, apple juice. He is socially perceptive and recognizes emotion and says things like baby cry, happy baby, and ouch/ow when someone gets bumped. Max says the name of his books such as zoo (Dear Zoo), cow sing (Cow Wants to Sing) and caterpillar (Hungry Caterpillar and Caterpillar Spring, Butterfly Summer). He acknowledges when he poops in his diaper, which I think is a good sign of his readiness for potty-training in December, hopefully. Max draws lots of inspiration from his active big brother and he is very physically capable himself - he can climb most playground ladders and loves playing with balls. He even recognizes different sports like soccer. He learned to jump this month after being in a bouncy. We also discovered that he's pretty scared of rides. He is sort of obsessed with throwing and hitting things. He hates brushing his teeth and pretty much refuses to let me do it. He started taking a chewable vitamin this month.

Miles is doing well. He shows his good heart in talking about his old pre-K friends. He still refers to Robyn as his girlfriend and says he loves her and misses her. He saw his best friend from pre-K, Joseph, at a party and told Joseph "You're an old friend, I have new friends at my school, but you're still my best friend." Miles was fitted for his tux for Mike and Emily's wedding next month and our slim jim has a 21 inch waist and wears a size 13 shoe. I'm hoping that he won't get stage-fright at the wedding b/c he was pretty overwhelmed and anxious about the large crowd at his pre-k graduation last year.

Max's Fall Finest

Max looked so cute in his jeans and rugby today! Here he is playing with Miles' shoes. He likes to wear them himself.

Max's 19 month old stats

Max is getting close to 20 months old (1 week away!) but he just had his "18 month" check-up on Friday. He was 33 1/2 inches tall and 31 1/2 pounds. Two classic new things he says are "did it" when he accomplishes something (like putting his crocs on) and "mine!" We went through the McDonalds drive-through yesterday (I'm not proud of it) and when the food was being passed into the car he said "Mine!" So he says mine when he wants something (working on adding "please" to it) and also when he doesn't want something taken away.

Some Recent Pics

Miles had strep this week but was still good-natured enough to give us a smile

I like pictures like this that show the nape of Max's sweet neck framed by his curls with him looking into the distance

Max in his glory with his binky and new Crocs

Here's Max playing on the deck in his pj's

Max is hopelessly addicted to his binky

We're afraid he will put up more of a fight than Miles did when it comes time to relinquish the binky
